Use Cases

This section presents practical use cases that show how to declare rights and collection rules in Reprtoir. Each case illustrates how publishing agreements are represented in the chain of rights, and how your data should be structured to ensure valid CWR exports.

The examples cover the most common publishing situations:

  • "Publishing" β€” when you are the Publisher of a work.
  • "Co-Publishing" β€” when a work is co-published by two or more publishers.
  • "Sub-Publishing" β€” when you are mandated as Sub-Publisher in one or several territories.
  • "Administration" β€” when you are mandated as Administrator, either worldwide or in one or several territories.

In practice, these agreements can be set up in different ways. Sometimes, a single party (for example, the Original Publisher or a Designated Publisher) is responsible for submitting the registration on behalf of all contributors. In other cases, each party (for example, each Co-Publisher or an Administrator in a given territory) submits its own registration separately.

Both approaches are supported in Reprtoir. The right method depends on your business agreements and the requirements of the CMO/PRO/MRO you are working with.
