About Rights and Royalties

Key Concepts

Reprtoir offers a powerful cloud-based Right and Royalty accounting solution designed to manage Incomes and Expenses, such as Fees and Advances, from any source and in any currency. By calculating over a million lines per minute, it is the fastest Royalty management solution in the market.
Before using the Reprtoir Right & Royalty management solution, please ensure that:

1. Revenue-generating Assets have been added

Added Assets metadata will be used to produce Statements and display Analytics.
Revenue-generating Assets, such as Tracks, Albums, Videos, and/or Works, must be present and contain the basic metadata as well as the identifiers which will allow them to be matched with the Royalty Statement file. Usually, these identifiers are their UPC/EAN, ISRC, ISWC, or those of third parties such as CMO custom codes.

2. Contracts with Royalty Splits have been added

Contracts with Royalty Splits must be present.

3. Contracts with Royalty Splits have been assigned to Assets

Contracts with Royalty Splits must be associated with Assets to automatically the Royalty Splits needed to distribute the Incomes among the Rights-Holders.

4. Organization currency is correct

The Organization Currency is a key concept to manage Rights and Royalties in Reprtoir. To avoid any errors, please double-check that the Currency assigned to your Organization is correct before you start using the Royalty management solution.

5. Opening Balances have been added (Optional)

The Rights-Holders Opening Balance corresponds to any outstanding debits or credits present at the beginning of an accounting period.
When an Organization migrates from another royalty system/software to a new, they probably will need to assign Opening Balances to their Rights-Holders to allow the continuity of operations from their old system to Reprtoir.

6. Adding Incomes and Expenses

When all steps are done, you will be able to start adding Incomes or/and Expenses.
