What is an Organization?

An Organization is an entity such as a company, an institution, an association, or a person with self-employed status, with legal and financial responsibilities.
Usually, in the music business, the Organization is a Record Label or a Music Publisher who owns Sound Recordings and/or Musical Works, perceives Revenues for their exploitation, and pays Royalties to its Rights-Holders.
In Reprtoir, the Organization is a key concept for Rights and Royalties management. For example, specifying the Organization's role in a Contract determines whether if it is the Payee or the Payer and the Royalty Splits percentages it will earn.

Organization Currency

Indicating a Currency with an Organization is mandatory. Our advice is you must choose the Currency used by your Organization for its accounting.
You cannot change the Currency of an Organization. Please make sure your Organization has the correct Currency before you starting to create Incomes or Expenses. If you need to change the Currency of an Organization, please delete it and create a new one.

Multiple Organizations

You can manage Multiple Organizations in a single Reprtoir Account. This is particularly useful if the Company that manages the Music Recording is legally separate from the Company that manages the Music Publishing within the same Team.
The administrators, such as independent accountants, can also use this functionality as long as they do not need to give access to their Account to their clients (because the Permissions do not allow to segregate User by Organization).
If you are in this case and need to give your customers access to your Account, you must open a Reprtoir Account per Company.

Managing Organization

First Organization created

Because at least one Organization is mandatory per Account, Reprtoir creates automatically the first Organization, using the Company's name and the currency that the creator of the Account indicated during their sign-up, for each new Account. The system also creates a Company with the same name in the CRM's Company list.

Editing an Organization

To edit the name of an Organization:

    Go to the CRM > Contacts or CRM > Companies
  2. 2.
    Search your Organization
  3. 3.
    Select it and click "Edit" in the contextual menu
  4. 4.
    Edit his name
  5. 5.

Adding an Organization

To add an Organization, the Contact or the associated Company must exist in the CRM. So, if the Contact or Company does not already exist, follow the links below to learn how to add them:
When this is done, here is how to add an Organization:

    Then go to the Setting > Organizations
  2. 2.
    Click on "New Organization"
  3. 3.
    Select a Contact or a Company
  4. 4.
    Select a Currency
  5. 5.
Be careful when you add an Organization. If you adding by error an Organization that you can't delete, please contact us.

Deleting an Organization

To delete an Organization, you must ensure that no Income or Expense is associated with it. As long as this is the case, it is not possible to delete an Organization.
